The ADAU1962 is a high performance, single chip, digitalto-analogconverter (DAC) that provides 12 DACs withdifferential outputs using the Analog Devices, Inc., patentedmultibit sigma-delta (Σ-Δ) architecture. A SPI/I2C port is included, allowing a microcontroller to adjust volume and many otherparameters. The ADAU1962 operates from 2.5 V digital, 5 Vanalog and 3.3 V or 5 V input/output supplies. A linear regulator isincluded to generate the digital supply voltage from the analogsupply voltage.The ADAU1962 is designed for low electromagnetic interference(EMI), evident in both the system and circuit design architectures.By using the on-board phase-locked loop (PLL) to derive theinternal master clock from an external left right frame clock(LRCLK)/frame clock, the ADAU1962 eliminates the need fora separate high frequency master clock and can be used with orwithout a bit clock. The DACs are designed using the latestAnalog Devices continuous time architectures to furtherminimize EMI. By using 2.5 V digital supplies, power consumptionis minimized and the digital waveforms are of a smaller amplitude,further reducing emissions.The ADAU1962 is available in an 80-lead LQFP package. Notethat throughout this data sheet, multifunction pins, such asSCLK/SCL/SA, are referred to by the entire pin name or by asingle function of the pin, for example, SCLK, when only thatfunction is relevant.
